Sculptures that take roots

In Giulio Giorgi’s practice, ceramics and gardening merge into living, evolving structures. With open bases that let roots grow freely, the works invite plants to shape them as much as they shape the plants. Gardening, Giorgi suggests, is both an act of control and a gesture of care — a negotiation with nature. His tall, glazed sculptures, reminiscent of human figures, stand as guardians in the landscape, inseparable from the ecosystems they shelter and protect. Work currently exhibited at the EKWC, the Netherlands.
